Now new research shows that sleep also seems to reorganize memories, take emotional details and rearrange memory or memories to help you generate new and creative ideas, according to the author of the Current Association article in Psychological Science, the journal Association for Psychological Science.
"Sleep makes memory stronger," said Jessica D. Payne of Notre Dame University who co-authored the report with Elizabeth A. Kensinger of Boston College. "Sleep also seems to do something I think is very interesting and it is to reorganize and restructure memory or memory."
Payne and Kensinger learn what happens to memory during sleep, and they find that one tends to rely on the most emotional part of a memory. For example, if someone is shown a scene with an emotional object such as the wreckage of a car accident on the front page he or she tends to remember the emotional object rather than another object such as a tree in the back, especially if tested after a night's sleep. They also measured brain activity during sleep and found that parts of the brain involved with emotion and memory combine were active.
"In our fast-paced society, one of the first things to be missed is our sleep," Payne said. "I think it's based on a big misconception that the sleeping brain does not do anything." The brain is busy. Not only combines memories, the brain also organizes the memory and selects the most prominent information. He thinks this is what makes people have new creative ideas.
"Payne did the research in earnest." I gave myself a chance to sleep for eight hours each night. I usually do not do that until I start looking at my data. "People who say they will sleep when they are dead actually sacrifice their ability to have good ideas right now," he said. "We can escape From sleep deprivation, but it has a major effect on our cognitive abilities. "

More and more, the importance of more sleep is being recognized. When I was younger, the saying "Sleep is for the weak" was popular. No, however, I see that sleep makes us stronger, kinder, and more creative.
