Relief of the bottom of the world ocean

in #science7 years ago

The relief of the bottom of the world ocean, as well as land, is very diverse - there are both seamounts and underwater plains. Its main parts are: shelf-coastal parts of the continents with depths from 0 to 200 m
Occurs on the bed of the World Ocean and underwater volcanoes with flat tops, as well as deep-sea trenches - long, narrow depressions of the bottom with very large depths.
Why did the underwater ridges resist the destructive effect of water? It turns out that they lie on the border of lithospheric plates in the zone of their expansion. Here, over great cracks in the earth's crust, magma rises, which piles up and completes the mountains.

  • The relief of the bottom of the World Ocean is very diverse - there are underwater mountains and underwater plains, huge cracks (rifts) and mid-ocean ridges.
  • The main parts of the ocean floor relief: the shelf, the continental slope and the bed of the ocean.

I think it would be great to go to one of Saturn's moons like Europa, go into one of the subterranean seas over there, explore the relief features and see if Man might be able to live there.

I think in Europe under a crust of ice is water in a liquid state. And where there is water, there is a microorganisms.

Really interesting stuff.
