I'm quite sure the myth of peak oil has been busted. Whilst the concept is technically true, it's not going to pose problems for humanity. There's far too much oil, and we actually have developed a number of new techniques for extracting it since those documentaries in the early 2000s scared everyone.
peak oil is not about how much its about how much it cost to produce it , also not also is equal when it comes to profitability tar sands and shale oil are the most expensive while light crude in the middle east is the cheapest to produce.... north American oil sources need 80 dollar a barrel to be profitable
