Does anyone interested in life sciences want to start a journal club on Steemit?

We'll make a thread once a week and each share a single interesting paper that we read that week, and discuss. I would also prefer this not be a place for people to brag about how long their CV is, so I think there should be a rule that you can't use any papers that you are an author on.

Anyone interested? I'll start: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0278584615000603

This paper was published last year but I found it this week and I was intrigued, but also wary, mostly because of things we know about MDMA. MDMA agonizes 5-HT1 and 5-HT2 receptors, and recent studies have shown that long term use of agonists of these receptors can cause heart valve disease. Also there is always the risk of lowering the seizure threshold, getting serotonin sickness, or "suicide Tuesdays," an extreme depression following the use of MDMA.

Anyone have any interesting papers, news and views, or even more layman focused popular science articles they want to share? Also any thoughts on this paper?

I'd like to make a weekly thread like this for discussing life science, biotech, and medical research papers.

That's a wonderful idea. You may be interested to join the steemstem channel for discussing this. This is a place where most science lovers from steemit are.

Thank you, I'm a bit confused about Steemit chat. Do I need to make a new steemit chat account or can I use my Steemit account?

You need to create a separate chat a/c
