Cyberattacks, at least the ones we know nowadays should become a thing of the past. This is the revolution promised by the first quantum random number generator that has been patented by Quantum Base and the Lancaster University.

A big benefit of the new quantum random number generator is its practicality. So far, similar devices were slow, too costly or too big. But the quantum generator by Quantum Base can be a part of any electronic device without severely increasing its price or complexity and at the same time, it is very fast. The device has a simple semi-conductor structure, is very energy efficient and easy to mass produce. The key component is a Resonant Tunel Diode that helps to get random numbers out of quantum tunneling.
Nowadays hackers use a weak spot in computer technology – random number generation – or more precisely pseudo-random number generation. Such randomly generated numbers are used in securing electronic devices. But because they aren’t truly random hackers can abuse this weak spot. This is why a demand for truly random numbers exist. To better secure all communication and electronic devices. This new quantum random generator could fix a long-existing weak spot and do it very cheaply and effectively. For us blockchain users, this could be an incredible new tool giving us unparalleled security if integrated into the blockchain technology.
