A Yale economist/psychologist taught seven monkeys how to use currency. It started as an experiment to teach Capuchin monkeys the concept of money by allowing them to earn tokens which later could be traded in for food.
After a few months, the monkeys learned how to exchange the money for fruit. Later they experimented with Jell-O as an available product at a lower price to see if they would buy more Jell-O instead of grapes. Over time this is exactly what ended up happening.
Later they taught them gambling and ultimately things lead to a monkey exchanging a token for sex. After they finished, the monkey traded the token in for a grape.
More about the experiment can be found here

Money is solely made by man, and it is backed by nothing. People must use it as legal tender and to pay their taxes with it. This is what gives it value. It is crazy how money can change your brain. This is an interesting article because having a asset that everyone values can satisfy all aspects of our brains, in this case sex and food.
What you are referring to the first time you mention money is fiat currency. Money is backed by something. I'm like you. I rarely even bother to use the word fiat currency but in some situation I think it's important to point out.
This says more about us than about the monkeys...
hahaha now thats funny!
So basically you are saying.
One way or another we will end up paying for sex? lol
That is the power of the brain, it can be taught or configured to do good or evil
As we know monkeys have 99% the same DNA with humans.... Does this experiment show that they may also have similar intelligence? Lets think about it!
I was there man,
You know because pay steem tokens to smash 😂😂😂
I would!
Sad that monkeys had a taste of humanity and unfortunate that taste was not blood.
This is so amazing. I'm up early here in Thailand, working on my crypto-self-ed before the "day" of the solo-mama begins.... and HERE YOU ARE talking tokens and trading for things that have value to Beings everywhere. Tickled and intrigued.
Wow that's amazing. Money is a weird concept when you think about it. Trying to explain Steemit to people has made me see how people, including myself, are brainwashed in a lot of ways about what money is. It's strange how a dollar can buy more in some places, and how in some places paper with numbers on it can get you things, but if you bring that same piece of paper to another place it can be completely worthless..
I wonder how long it is until another monkey starts pimping her services.
Ya, Penguins exchange fishes for sex too.
Wild stuff there Mark. Monkeys will be 🚶 walking the streets in no time 😕
My mouth is wide open in amazement. This is the first time I'm hearing of such.....
It's weirdly funny too...
Thanks for sharing..

Did the experiment confirm the hypothesis that money is the root of all monkey evil?
Why you should vote me as witness. Because I write articles about people teaching monkey how to become prostitutes.
Sounds about right! We gotta leave the monkey's be and not impose our own morality on them. I know I'd be earning alot of free grapes if it was so frowned upon...lol. Joking of course.
Hookers, so common, even a monkey can do it. Sorry I had to with that kind of article. At least it's not as bad as that news story I read over a decade ago of "Does stabbing hurt?" where researchers stabbed monkeys and the result came out "yes, stabbing does indeed hurt".
The animals love: God gave them the beginning of thoughts and joy of serenity. Do not resent her, do not torment them, do not take away their joy, do not resist the thought of God. Man, do not ascend above the animals: they are sinless, and you, with your greatness, are suppurating the earth with your appearance on it and leaving your purulent trace behind you, alas, almost every one of us! I liked your post.
very good
My mind is fucking blown.
Yeeeeeeeah... I'm not surpriesd by this, though I am intrigued...
I mean, we call it "the oldest profession" in nearly every language and culture, and one's body/ sexuality are relatively inherent and inalienable goods that can be exchanged, at a fundamental level...
What this demonstrates most readily to me is a core belief I hold: we're all just silly monkies.
