For many years, the US military and private military corporations invested considerable resources and time into developing and researching techniques for enhancing psychic abilities. Among the intentions was to develop ways to reliably gain information about events, people and locations remotely - without the barriers of space and time. In other words, the ability to psychically view things remotely.

Russell Targ is a physicist who worked on some of these programs and in this banned Ted Talk, he exposes many of the fascinating details of the projects he was involved with.

His first wife was the sister of the world chess champion Bobby Fischer. When Bobby Fischer was on the run from the US government Targ was helping him.

His daughter's name was Elisabeth Fischer Targ:

Elisabeth Fischer Targ (August 4, 1961 - July 18, 2002) was an American psychiatrist specializing in psychic phenomena and the role of spirituality in health and healing. Targ produced a series of papers investigating the effects of prayer on AIDS patients, attempting to test the theory with a high degree of experimental rigor, with questionable results that eventually were not confirmed by a study published after her death. She died of a brain tumor on July 18, 2002.
