Honest Food is Good for You

in #science8 years ago (edited)

Discovering that low-fat dairy consumption rates are correlated to Parkinson's Disease is yet another confirmation of something that I have acted on all my life: natural foods are less harmful than industrially altered food, despite advertising that claims such products are beneficial.

lowfatdairy.jpgScience Daily; I love this site!

If you scroll down on that link you will find several studies of this kind.

I am almost constantly inundated with new studies that show foods in as unaltered a state as possible simply aren't correlated with the diseases lowfat, zero cholesterol, reduced sodium, gluten free, etc products are being shown to be.

I haply recall raising my kids on game and fish, garden produce, and dairy products as close to the natural originals I could afford. Real butter, mayonnaise, milk, etc. I hope that if you are trying to diet, or protect yourself from various dietary products by using food products altered industrially, you do take the time to research carefully recent science regarding the impact such products may be having on you.

My expectation is that the most natural foods are those our bodies are best able to profitably use - generally.

I am not recommending you simply stop eating stuff your doctor recommends, or that are advertised as being healthier. I do recommend you at least run an internet search and look for studies about such products.

Good health is real wealth!

I agree - as a bodybuilder with a high nutritional understanding, I always tell clients, choose foods that will "fuel your engine!" :)

Sure, but most people won't know what really fuel their engine.

I totally agree with you. We are whole milk drinkers and whole fat eaters!

I try to change my eat habits and don't think any milk is health for us. Fat on the other hand is really health and the best source of energy for our body and mind. The problem is that you can't use fat as fuel if your body is using carbo instead. You need to force it to change to fat-fueled mode. This has been used to treat refractory childhood seizures for over 80 years.

I was unaware of the relationship between fat and carbs. I do know that people have metabolic differences that are significant in determining what is the best diet or course of action to undertake to best attain good health.

I strongly recommend each of us pay attention to our health, secure such expert assistance as we are able, and stick to natural and traditional sources of sustenance people are known to have historically require and thrive on.

Thank you for adding to my understanding.

I've been researching and doing experiment myself for 2 years now. The hard part is the discipline to keep doing it but I try to at least stabilish a goal. The benefits I've acquire are basic more energy thoughrout the day and stronger immune system.
My main goal with all this is to get sick less and sleep less. I will write some of my experiences soon this week to share with the community.

That's great! Personally, I would probably benefit from more sleep.

I typically sleep between 3 and 5 hours a day, and usually in shorter increments somewhat randomly spread in a given day. I know that is not optimal, but life is short and the internet is long. =p

I don't remember the source but I read an online article recently (maybe mercola.com?) that pointed out the illogic of people wanting unprocessed food and gluten free i.e. probably the most highly processed type of food there is.

That's what you get when you follow trends but don't take the responsibility to do the research yourself.

Hello, ever hear of the internet?
