Google was tracking Incognito Mode

in #search4 years ago

I had this coming because what else you can expect from a company which is making billions by selling user's data without their knowledge. If somehow users are asked for permission to share their data then they ask in so complex way that most users choose to opt in without reading anything at all.

Many people use Incognito Mode of Chrome browser in hope that their local browsing history won't be saved but some are under wrong impression that this also makes them anonymous online. This is not true at all, your Internet traffic is still accessible by your ISP and all the websites you visit.

Google was found to be exploiting this and could be fined $5 billion in lawsuit. There are numerous ways where Google collects data because many web services rely on services provided by Google such as Adsense, Search engine.

I have personally shifted to Brave browser long ago or you might have choice of other privacy focused browsers like Tor. I still have to ditch Google search engine with DuckDuckGo which is more secure and privacy focused search engine. They don't collect user's data and do any kind of profiling.
