When you talk about things like this that happened, your pain, the feelings come back. It's a survival mechanism; find what causes pain and stay away from it. Unfortunately, that can cause its own pain and feelings of isolation.
When you bring these memories back, it helps to drink water. I know it sounds strange, but it occupies the part of your instinctual, reptile brain that associates memories with feelings. It helps to dissociate the memory from the feelings, which, in turn, allows you to remember those events without the crippling pain.
