August 5, 2022--Prelude and Verse from 5 Biblical Contemplations by Gerhard Krapf

A new piece this week. This is a work composed by the German neo-Baroque composer Gerhard Krapf for his collection of 5 Biblical Contemplations. Each has a verse attached to it. This is the second piece in the cycle, the Prelude and Verse. Unfortunately, I do not have the verse with me as I write this. For the most part, it is a simple piece with a two to three part counterpoint in the great manual (8' and 4' flutes) with a solo reed on the swell (8' Clarion). The pedal is sparsely used (Bourdon 16' and Gedeckt 8'). Near the end, a Principal 8 ' is sounded.
