First day of Spring Break! SPRING BREAK! It was busy. The morning was filled with waiting for the pest control guy to come and spray the house and check for mice. Some spiders found, but no mice. Huzzah! I practiced piano most of this time, trying to get the C major fugue for Bach's WTC I and the prelude from the C minor memorized. Mostly there. I went into the office to do some school related stuff, but didn't stay long. Went out for Chinese food and practiced organ for an hour and a half before going grocery shopping for tonight's dinner--pork chops and stuffing with broccoli. While cooking, I did some more piano practice before eating and going to Masonic practices. Two of these this evening. The first is for ritual in the Scottish Rite and the second was the chanters practice at the Shrine. Afterwards, we went out for margaritas. One of the chanters paid, so....
On the organ, I practice Bach's BWV 621--I will be using this as part of the prelude on Sunday and recording it for the Secrets of Organ playing contest this week--and continued piecing together BWV 622. I have written in the fingering on half of it, the other half will take place tomorrow. I also worked on the Hindemith Second Sonata, first movement--trying to speed it up. Currently at 80 to the half note, but probably needs to go a little faster still.
On the piano, I worked on the first two preludes and fugues from WTC I of J.S. Bach as well as the fugue in Op. 101 by Beethoven. Getting the last one up to speed has been a problem. I also played through the last movement of Op. 10 No. 2 by Beethoven to see how the memory is holding. Most of it is still there after two weeks. Will get back to it tomorrow. I also needed to start practicing some accompaniments for a solo recital that will take place April 3. So, while dinner was cooking, I practiced these.
