Hello Friends,
We are all implementing log storage for our organization incidents handling purpose.the main thing behind this is when we are trying to plan for storage we are getting stuck or what can we do in this case.
So for this you can use this below formula to calculate the exact storage limit that we required for security operation center.
Roughly full data storage content requirement use this formula -
Hard drive storage for one day = Avg network utilization in one day in Mbps * 1byte/8bits * 60sec/min * 60 min/hr * 24 hr/day
First thing we need to consider is that what is the daily bandwidth usage of our organization.
Suppose example - we have 1 Gbps link and daily usage is 100 Mbps per day. So,you can calculate the daily required storage for logs.
Storage of logs 1 day= 100 Mbps * 1byte/8bits * 60sec/min * 60 min/hr * 24 hr/day
= 1.08 TB storage per day
Storage for 30 day =33 TB
So roughly we get idea 33TB of full content data. And the another 3TB storage for database needs.
And the third for of data means 1/28th of full content data in our case is 1.6TB of space.
Total Storage for 30 days of logs is 38 TB roughly we required.
So its very safe to allocate 38 TB storage for Hard Drive.
Hope this will helpful.
Thanks.
