What coin do BTC holders gain from the SegWit2x fork of Dec 28, 2017?

in #segwit2x7 years ago

Hey guys! I'm posting this for two reasons. (1) I'm curious and have not yet been able to find the real answers online, and (2) I'm thinking there might be others like me who have some BTC and are wondering the same thing.

So, as you may or may not all have heard yet - the SegWit2x was scheduled to happen on December 28, 2017 at BTC block 501451 (http://b2x-segwit.io) and for all intensive purposes it seems that it did indeed take place.

In this video, tplusd gets confirmation from the official site's live chat:

The official website even has a "wallet" you can download now too.

Since I own a small amount of BTC which I had before block 501451, I started to get excited that maybe I'd be able to get my hands on some "SegWit2x" coins as seen here which is currently priced at $263 USD:

But then, I looked around and read more about the skepticism surrounding this fork on Reddit:

And now I'm thinking, sadly, that this new fork might actually be this coin here which is currently priced at less than 1 penny :(

But, for all I know, it could be another.

Anyone out there know the real deal here, which coin is it after all?
