Life of an entrepreneur

in #self-employed3 years ago (edited)

Most young people growing up believe they will one day make a significant contribution somewhere, and it will immediately rocket them into stardom. While this does happen, if you wish to escape the servitude of the average nine to five job, you will be required to do a lot more than just dream.

The path of an entrepreneur is not an easy one, and when you take a close look, not a very desirable one. It is all too easy to dismiss someone's success after observing only the result. Most entrepreneurs are unrecognizable from their future, successful self, so keep this in mind.

The illusions
No one can blame you for wanting to drive a fancy sports car, spending your days on a permanent vacation with nothing to worry about, except the tardy waiter and your drinks. However, just about everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that before attaining this level of comfort, many entrepreneurs had to live hand to mouth, barely able to pay their bills or own a vehicle. As a result, many would-be entrepreneurs often abandon the quest to acquire more stable, safe job types.

The struggle
One of the most defining factors of a good entrepreneur is that they bring something new to the world, often one of the main reasons for their success. However, there is also a downside to trying to sell a new product. The chances are that most people will not be willing to spend their money on an unproven product. Starting up without a reputation can make it difficult, and it is at this stage that many entrepreneurs fail.

The strategy
It is all too easy to give up, give in and find yourself a boss to whom you can subjugate yourself. The hardest thing you may ever have to do in life is get up another morning to venture out, knowing that your likelihood of disappointment is high. Successful entrepreneurs will tell you of some unique ways they developed to help them cope with their situation. Never underestimate the struggles of a successful entrepreneur.

The success
With enough hard work and determination, anyone can make their dreams a reality. The trick is usually determining exactly how much work is enough to attain success. It is at this point the paradox lies. Many people may have given up on their dreams just before the moment of their success, and the sad part is, they may never know.
