CHAPTER 2
The inevitability of the day provokes my feet to touch the floor. The moment I stand up I know I will need to urinate. Getting older sucks.
That realization is only magnified by the bathroom mirror which is destined to mock me even further. It casts its judgements in silence only accompanied by the nagging voices in my head. I try to perform the daily hygiene ritual while coveting my eyes from its condisening gaze. A pointless fight as I lift my head to see the reflection that greets me filled with dought and frustration we lock eyes.
Knowing that thoughts can become things if focused on for too long. I struggle to gain the inner courage needed to snap out of this perpetual cycle of self hate. I plead with the mirror to give me peace for just one day.
If you don't like how you are feeling then change what you are thinking about. I will remember what it is like to be happy and maybe I will get a smile from that stubborn mirror.
