This post is my entry to the contest - Upmewhale Writing Contest! Global Warming and Climate Change, What Can Be Done?, organized by @upmewhale.
When I saw the topic of the contest, I thought that I had nothing to say, something new, but I began to look at my photographs, which I edited over the past year, and I saw some connection with this topic.
These photos will help me illustrate my thoughts, which may differ from your opinion, each of us has his own views on what is happening around.
My view on the problem of global warming, or climate change, will always be based on the fact that, I am a Christian who reads the Bible, where, for a long time, this question has been opened for everyone who wants to see the answers to it.
We humans have received this world as the Creator wanted it to be.
It is diverse and unpredictable.
Many things are hidden from us.
But, we can observe and analyze them.
In recent years, I think many have noticed that the seasons have shifted.
Calendar becomes irrelevant.
At a minimum, for those people who work in the agricultural sector.
In May, snow may fall, and, a month ago, in December, I saw people walking in T-shirts where, usually, at this time of year, snow is falling.
The climate is changing, the temperature of air, water, wind, and everything connected with this comes into a state of imbalance.
Far, no need to walk.
I can look out the window and see a wheat field where, soon, wheat will start to spike, which should sleep under the snow, but the climate or the new climate is playing a trick on it.
Another simple example. I stopped seeing some species of birds. Sparrows are gone. They are gone. In their place, other birds came, which, before, I had not seen in our area.
The first thought that comes to mind is Horror! Something strange is happening!
But, let's remember how it all began, for humanity, on this planet.
There was a garden of paradise, with ideal living conditions for humans.
Then, the man, Adam and Eve, were expelled from this garden, to where the climatic conditions were, were completely different.
They had to put on animal skins to warm themselves. They had to make fire, and eat food that they were not used to at all.
Here is the answer to the first question - What is climate change? - This is the way out of the comfort zone on a global scale.
I can wander under the moon for a long time and reflect on how climate change affects me and the community as a whole, but I come to the same denominator - any thought I have on this topic is a reaction to stress.
Yes, stress. The best remedy for stress is peace.
Thus, I can answer the question - What does climate change mean for you? - stress in the first place.
How does this affect you and your community?
Climate change is becoming the occasion for various kinds of speculation and the escalation of an atmosphere of fear.
We, poorly know our planet and poorly versed in the processes that occur.
We are told that, according to one version, the mystical planet Nibiru is to blame for everything, we are ready to accept it.
We are told that salvation needs to be sought beyond the borders of our planet, and we are ready to agree with this. Taxpayers are ready to pay for expensive space programs, at a time when it would be better to direct these funds to improve life on our planet.
Politicians and pseudo-scientists are trying to squeeze out all the juices from the topic of global warming.
Think about when the largest climatic collapse was supposed to happen.
Two centuries ago, when large-scale industrialization began, colossal volumes of coal were burned.
Huge clouds of coal dust rose into the air.
This is not comparable with car exhaust, or emissions from factories where catalysts are installed on chimneys.
I think that, from that processed coal, it would be possible to create a small planet, which, by little, was inferior in size to the satellites of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, if they exist, as we are told.
In theory, now, emissions are minimized, but the atmosphere heats up.
To be honest, I’m reminded that this is a metal quenching process.
For metal, by the way, hardening is stress.
In the end, it should turn out something solid, reliable.
But, there are other thoughts about this.
Stress is the reaction of the body to external stimuli.
But, is it good or bad? Is it a blessing, or is it a curse?
Reflecting on all this. I remembered that I, not only a theorist, but also a practitioner in creating a climate, or a specific biotope with given parameters.
Do not be surprised, I think that many of you are the same specialists if, in your house, there was an aquarium with fish.
I had a lot of them. 8 tons of water, more than eighty aquariums of different volumes and more than 150 species of hydrobionts, living creatures, fish, mollusks, crustaceans.
You ask why I give an aquarium as an example?
The fact is that the processes that occur in the confined space of the aquarium are very similar to the processors that take place on our planet.
Any aquarist knows that any enclosed space is prone to imbalance.
We, aquarists, are trying to bring this system into equilibrium.
This is the balance of temperature and biological processes.
What happens on our planet is similar to what I did when I struggled with bacterial outbreaks.
I raised the temperature of the water to a level at which these microorganisms die.
But, in the end, I got crystal clear water, suitable for the happy life of my pets.
Changing temperature, for fish, is a lot of stress. Such changes need to be made very consistently and smoothly, but, in the end, you can teach the fish to one or another of the water parameters.
So it happens to us.
The one who created this planet wants to clean it from something, and give us the strength to exist under the new climate conditions.
There is one more good news.
As before, we have - morning, day, evening and night.
Not so bad.
Funny, but, I want to return to the topic - an aquarium.
Any aquarist will tell you that the most complex aquarium in which it is most difficult to maintain balance is a spherical aquarium.
I want to be an accomplice to those who believe that our planet is flat, in this case, we have a chance that everything will work out.
But, if we live on a ball, I'm sorry, we will face the fate of a goldfish, which was lowered into the toilet.
Just kidding, we have great chances, but you need to pray a lot.
But, the Book of the Apocalypse does not joke, and says that there will be nothing left on this earth, there will be a new Earth.
I think we should not look for those to blame, we are all, the reason for what is happening around.
Sitting in an aquarium, a fish cannot influence something, only its owner can change something.
