I look at motivation like a steam engine. The more steam you have built up, the more power you have working for you.
This steam or power can degrade, escape, or be redirected to other uses. We have to check our gauges everyday and make sure we are not losing any.
Steam is your motivation power. If you lose focus of the reasons why you set out to achieve, your steam will degrade. Motivation is closely tied to emotions. Make sure to remind yourself why you are in this. These are success rituals that establish success habits.
Our power escapes when we spread ourselves out too thin. If we lose focus on what we want to achieve, we do everything with less power. Mediocre input gives us mediocre results.
Redirecting our power happens when we abuse the luxury of having someone to blame for our lack of success. Even if someone is undermining your goals, dont waste your power blaming them. Be grateful you identified the issue and work around them. You still have things to do and cant let them waste any more of your time or power.
Complaining also uses up power. Complaining will actually help you endure failure longer. When we realize how precious our power is and have a way to observe the ways we lose it, we can do something about it. That is what this project is all about. Spreading knowledge so others have more choices. My next post will be about those "choices"
