The Sedona Method is a way of releasing negative emotions and limiting beliefs. We usually hold on to negative emotions or express them in ways that we later regret. Neither is good for our mental health and even our physical health.

I discussed Holistic Releasing yesterday. That is where you welcome both sides of an emotion such as fear and then peace. You go back and forth between the two emotions until you feel a release.

Since I was able to help at least one person, I thought it would be good to do an introduction to The Sedona Method. This is the main way of using this self-help technique.

To explain it, pick up a pen. Twirl the pen around in your hand and notice it is not attached to your hand. The pen represents our negative emotions. Our hand represents our gut or our awareness. Just as the pen is not attached to our hand, we are not attached to our negative emotions. We are simply aware of them.

However, if you hold the pen tightly it will feel uncomfortable at first and familiar like it is part of our hand like emotions feel like they are part of us. Now drop the pen. Just like the pen, we can decide to drop our emotions.

The Sedona Method uses a series of questions to help you become more aware of your feelings and guide you in letting them go.

For now, think of something mildly upsetting.

1.) Welcome the feeling. (Welcome any feelings, pictures, and sounds in your mind)
2.) Ask yourself "Could I let this go? (As best you can just for now. Are you able to? Yes or No are both acceptable answers).
3.) Ask yourself "Would I let this go?" (As best you can, just for now. Are you willing to? Yes or No are both acceptable answers).
4.) When? (This is an invitation to do it now).

If you felt a shift in your emotional state, you are doing it correctly. Results may be subtle. Just welcome again how you are feeling now after completing the technique and repeat as necessary until you feel better.

That’s cool, it’s definitely important to let go of negative emotions and try to get back to a better mental and emotional state. I think this method makes sense and will try to employ it next time I need it!
