Oliver Ivanovic, a well-known Kosovo Serb political leader, was shot dead this morning in Kosovska Mitrovica. His lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic told him that nothing is known about the circumstances of the incident, which occurred while Ivanovic was entering his office.
Ivanovic, an authoritative political personality and recognized Kosovo Serb leader, was reached by five bulletins this afternoon in the Kosovska Mitrovica north (Serbian). The hacked killer, according to the Serbian media, used a weapon with a muffler, chilling the political exponent when he was in the seat of his party's 'Civic Initiative'. Shortly after, a short distance from the crime scene, a car burned to a flame and no license plate was found, with which the assassin allegedly fled.
"Ivanovic seems to have died on the blow," said lawyer Vlajic. "After the ambush was immediately taken to the hospital, but all the doctors' attempts to revive him were out of date."
The killing of Oliver Ivanovic, who had been released for a few months after spending nearly three years in jail in Kosovo with charges of war crimes, which he has always rejected, is likely to raise dangerously the inter-ethnic tension, which is still latent in Kosovo in relations between Albanian majority and Serb minority. The release of the political man had occurred after the annulment of the first-instance ruling condemning Ivanovic to nine years of imprisonment. A new trial was prepared for him.
The killing of the leader was at the center of a telephone interview that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had today with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini.
Mogherini is a mediator in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which has been held in Brussels for several years under the auspices of the European Union.
Most knowledgeable people agree that Vucic is behind this assassination.
@miroslavm Thank you for your comment, will know about who was killing him only at the end of the investigation.
when the state security kills, investigation never ends, or it does but without relevant results.
