Bro, your storytelling voice is solid as fuck.
I just wanted to share some notes I was thinking as I read this piece. You can take it or leave it, just know it's constructive criticism from a place of love, not Youtube comment section shit talking.
You have two different stories going on here: Your personal story about life, and your brushes with evil.
Both of them were equally interesting and engaging, and I wanted more of them, but together it was like shrimp and sauerkraut: Different dishes for different plates. Real talk, yo, your personal bits about heartbreak and setbacks were the highlights for me. It came from a place of honest vulnerability and it showed.
Also, this is a blogging platform. You just served a five course meal at a chicken shack. This post should have been chopped up into several posts. As unfortunate as it is, the reality is the internet has a very short attention span. There aren't really rules regarding length, but 900 to 1,500 words is a safe bet for blogs. There aren't rules, and rules are made to be broken, but every medium has a general pool of what works best and what doesn't.
The quality of your writing, along with your notoriety would be an asset to this very passionate, budding, community that is besieged with low quality spammers looking to make a quick buck. We're all hungry kids here, pulling ropes and flipping light switches, hoping we can break into doing what we love for a living instead of pumping gas.
So, please keep posting.
thanks,
my man- i appreciate the heartfelt criticism- and what you said was true
