Which Series to watch? @mac-o’s personal selection

in #series8 years ago (edited)

Ok lads, I’ve been consuming several TV series this first year half, and personally believe it has been a good solid season so far.

My taste around series is the same I have around ice cream, it can go from chocolate with mint to hot chili and pine apple faster than a Ferrari gets to 100km/h, so you have an idea of the pics you can find in this list.

I haven’t placed them in any particular order, this is not a top list; it’s just an awesome list J

Stranger Things:

A Netflix original that can be found all around the internet, and if you ask me it’s the super cool son conceived by The Goonies and The Last Starfighter, which was abandoned in a forest, the one from Blair Witch, just to be found by Seth Brundle [The Fly 1986] and raised by him and his beloved wife Carrie.

Now, I won’t give you spoilers, just will let you know that its stands to its name because boy oh boy stranger things happen in that series. One key point it’s the sound effects and tracks that keep you in the verge of your seat while the plot gets more and more complicated until all starts to match, like a freaking Lego game.

If you have some nostalgia from the eighties and good old kid gangs’ adventures, yet like horror and supernatural stuff, this is your series.

Bonus: the 8 bit tracks, f#uk yea. And Winona Ryder, she is playing the part she was born to.

Attack on Titan:

Ok steemers, just to clear out what you might be thinking by reading this title, no, I’m not an anime fan, but yes, I do enjoy one once in a while; similar to going out with friends to Tijuana and enjoy a nice tequila shot and a donkey show, nothing bad with that.

This masterpiece centers into a society that got his ass fat, way fat, after the first titan attack they experienced around a hundred years ago. Obviously when they come back again shit gets real and reality hits them in the face like Mike Tyson did to all his opponents when he was on his prime. But, like with all good anime, this one goes beyond the monsters and the killing, it explores the fears of the common man and some aspect of today’s society that will start the engines on your brain.

The bonus with this one: it has been confirmed that after several years, the second season will be out in 2017. Right about time hey!

Game of Thrones

Yea yea yea, I know many will say this is an obvious pic, many more will say this is a mainstream series with lots of hype. Whatever, this being the @mac-o lists of awesome series, it gives no room for democracy.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read all the books and certainly I’m a bit pissed off by several elements that have been manipulated by the producers, but in the same way I take it as it is: and adaptation of a book, not the literal book.

Even though this season has been a reverse spoiler for me, since most of the happenings are from the last unpublished book, it gave me the chills to see how many stories are coming full circle. You also have some good deaths, really good deaths, which since several seasons ago where not matching the ones from the first two seasons. So, if you are into medieval shit with a twist of lemon and magic, start watching the first seasons and get on board of the train. You have plenty of time since producers have already notified that next season will start later because “winter has come” so they need to wait for cooler weathers in many shooting locations.

 Preacher

Ok, I just finished this one and it was awesome! It gets a bit dull in some of the middle episodes but it’s just to set the ground for “higher” things.

If you have read the comic created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, you will have kind of the same feeling I had with The Walking Dead comic and the series: the pace is too slow and they stay in one comic or two for episodes and episodes without moving away, but hell, like I previously said with GOT, take it as it is: and adaptation.

In this one the characters are really colorful; particularly Tulip, The Preacher and Collin who are incredible characters which have been amazingly impersonated. It seems to me also that the producers and directors invested a good deal of time working in the screenplay and the location angles, grounding a lot of their work in the comic visuals.

This first season is very good and lets you at the end a cool cliffhanger.

So, here you have a couple of months of pure fun, or if you are the “one season in one day” kind of person, an entertaining long weekend.

Let me know what you think of these series, and obviously, which others around there you enjoyed.

Myself, I’m in the 3rd episode of Narcos and so far it’s being very good, although I’m waiting for shit to get real like in attack on titan XD

This is @mac-o saying goodbye and goodnight.
