Door Tuesday

#doortuesday is part of the #sevendaysoutside challenge by the lovely @erikah

This old door was in the same building in Franklin Grove, Illinois as my window photo from yesterday. I really love these old limestone buildings.

post very useful ,,, success melinda.

Many thanks!

I like how they do the brickwork over the doors and windows

Those arches add something to the looks, and I assume provide some structural support to the opening?

Yes support. And good looks ! This ones a little different than the ones i see around here.

Some really ancient ones are pretty tricky with that top curve and the "keystone" in the arch. :)

Pretty amazing skills to quarry that stone from the earth and know how to make use of it!

We need those Inca stonemasons to build some things around here : )

I don't know why, but I have always loved old doors and you don't see too many of them now days.

I love those old wooden screen doors too. Everything now is aluminum, I guess.

The door is pretty ugly but the building on the other hand, that's amazing!

The door is pretty typical of old wooden screen doors on buildings from the 1800's. It's function was to let the air circulate while keeping the bugs out. You don't see them often anymore. Most screen doors these days are aluminum.

It's great to see old pieces of the past.

Have a joyful rusty day my dear ! =))
