A study by Mercer National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Benefit Plans showed that 29% of employers with 20,000 or more employees nationwide (United States) provide coverage for gender reassignment surgery.
One in 10 companies with 500+ employees covered that surgery in 2015. That is more than double the amount just two years earlier in 2013.
What's important to note, however, is that only surgeries deemed "necessary" are covered, such as genetial reconstructive surgery and/or breast augmentation or reduction.
Surgeries normally not covered are chin or cheek implants, Adam's apple shaving, and collagen injections. This is standard when it comes to cosmetic surgery under employer covered plans.
