Intel is going to Anti-Malware in Hardware in upcoming CPUs

Intel is known for releasing new set of features in its processor every years. The latest processor is 10th and Intel normally focus on increasing. Its counterpart AMD, focus, energy consumption and size too.

I have always wondered why we need to upgrade whole systems every year to get updated features. It was not like that few years ago and few components update would keep you in the loop.

I do like this recent update of Intel to increase security but it clearly means all previous systems are vulnerable and you have to buy new systems.

This new update Intel has developed in collaboration with Microsoft to counter malicious code which run over other programs. This new hardware technique is supposed to control shadow stack and inter branch staking code. Both of these workflows can be hijacked by malwares to run malicious code.

I think this is still a step forward towards security because sometimes hardware protections are also vulnerable to hacking and they need immediate software patch. I hope in this case they won't force everyone to upgrade hardware for upcoming patches.
