If I still have my wits about me, I would first try to assess the situation.

I would probably assume the worst...

• Am I in danger?
• Is there a threat?
• Is the threat on-board or some external factor?

If there was some inherent threat to me, I would seek out a place to hide (depending on the size of the ship), and then try to learn as much as possible about what has happened and what is currently happening.

Next step, I would need to make contact... either with someone else on-board or via phone/radio to someone external to the ship. Again, the protocol here would be to learn as much as possible.

Although it's an ocean, the endless, vast stretch of water could be some form of perpetual hell... I could have awoken in the River Styx...
