While there are certainly a lot of them 50% seems a bit high. And of course Facebook has no incentive to cull these bot or fake accounts as number of users is a performance metric for them.

The irony here is that the fake accounts may have boost FB's share price for years. An even bigger bombshell if someone uncovers evidence that FB was somehow connected to the creation of the fake accounts.
