Australian 60 Minutes had a great story about the LEGO company, it was fascinating !
I don't know anyone who didn't build with Legos as a kid, boys and girls.
Here are the highlights below and a link to the story AND a couple really old sets of Lego we found.
- "Bricks" is an alias for LEGO
- 60 years in business
- A family owned company with a 7 billion dollar fortune
- Lego was invented and has it's headquarters in Billund, Denmark
- HQ reminds me of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory
- HQ reminds me of Tom Hanks in Big
- They have a vault where they keep EVERY set of Lego ever made
- Obsessive LEGO collectors are called AFOL Adult Fans of Lego
- There are 100 pieces of LEGO for every single person on the planet
- LEGO headquarters looks like it's made of LEGO it's very cool. Check out the view from above below.
I didn't build with Legos as a kid... :-)
haha Are you one of the adult LEGO lovers?
No, actually I've never understood the fascination with those things. Even the one time I went to LegoLand and all they talked about was how many Legos were used to build this and that. And I'm like, yeah, so what? Who cares? :-)
I think it's cool to see the crazy big stuff they build with them but I had no patience as a kid to put together something based on the instructions so I gave up!
OH and I think its amazing they are a family company still.
