I don't think views is an accurate representation of true views. A post can be viewed via steemit.com, busy.org, chainbb.com, esteem app, etc. I don't think "views" are part of the blockchain (and I don't see how they could be, nor do I think they should be), the view counter on steemit.com is probably only views via steemit.com.

Yeah I agree, but the only way to upvote the post is through steemit.com right? So my point still stands. There are a lot of people who upvote articles without reading them just to get the curation rewards. But the point of curation is to seek out quality content. So we should require people to at least look at the page if they are going to be able to upvote it.
No, the only way to upvote is not through steemit.com. A post can be upvoted by an account via any app or website or other software (including bots) that can interact with the blockchain with the account's private key.
