In life we all have our ups and downs, sometimes more downs than ups! In the past few weeks, a lot of past situations have been running through my mind.. again. Feels like I haven’t closed some chapters yet even though I thought I did. These feelings overruled my mind which caused the overthinking.
Since I graduated and haven’t found a job yet, I’ve been trying to stay busy with other things. Like climbing, yoga and writing, however, I’ve noticed that I can lose my concentration very quickly. I believe it’s because of many thoughts my head, like the things I want to achieve or what I still have to do for myself. The overthinking leads to ’I’m so done with everything’to ’let’s do nothing’ to ’feeling depressed’. I’m aware of what I’m doing wrong to myself. The overthinking is so bad for your mental health. You will lose your focus on the things that really matter in the present moment.
I’ve seen people around me who have been or still are in almost the same situation. It’s crazy how you can get yourself this far!
What helps me to minimalize the overthinking is to:
(1) talk about it with someone
(2) write down the emotions
(3) draw whatever comes to mind even when you draw ugly like I do 😂
(4) listen and play music
(5) meditate
(6)yoga
(7)walk it off in nature
I used to write down my feelings or draw on a piece of paper, but it didn’t feel like it was ‘mine’. Papers got lost, everything stayed chaotic. Buying a book where I could write down everything and draw makes it more personal and more like a huge piece of yourself within that book. It’s yours.
I’m not doing all mentioned activities daily, however, I do try to create a structure by doing these activities so my mind will focus on the present moment.
Everyone may have their own thing, so I’m just sharing what I do to make myself feel better, how I feel and think at the present moment. That’s why I call these kind of blogposts Sharing Thoughts.
