I have a feeling your hypothetical policeman may be just as bewildered with the word 'pogrom'.

RiskDebonair: "I'm witnessing a pogrom on 4th and Main!"

Policeman: "A what?!?!"

RiskDebonair: "A progrom you idiot!"
