Anarchy, Fuck Your Authority. Not, Fuck You.

If fiat collapsed tomorrow you would expect what? Murder, Looting, People setting random fires, full on riots.... Why though? There are enough resources outside my house right now for me to get food and water for myself. If the government stopped right now I really wouldn't worry about starving to death like Venezuela. I would worry about lazy assholes who would rather steal shit from me than go make it or hunt it themselves. Many of us subsist on steady diets of news media and political double speak without which our sanity will be lost. The worst thing that can happen is another superpower sees USA as being unable to coordinate a nuke strike because we all couldn't handle impeaching a few assholes and hiring better ones without turning into an episode of the Walking Dead.

societies don't collapse, individuals do. The present reality that is not good for 99.99% of people on this planet can be changed if we stop hoping for apocalypse and engage in change.

I would expect the UN to send "aid" and quickly grab anything of worth. Even with fiat down UN forces would still work for food and resources. Guess there would be a bit max max quickly followed by the wild west. Bad water would do away with more folks than guns. An old dos game called roadwar 2000 might be a good simulator. That said japan was nuked twice, the uk and germany both had the crap bombed out of them during ww2 and managed not to devolve instantly to a dog eat dog firestorm. TWD instantly had all survivors surrounded in attackers with no fear. With the survivors being still alive, folks would be more interested in avoiding injury, even minor ones which could now become fatal. And more keen to be part of groups the larger the better.

True, like both you and @matrixdweller are saying is that knowledge and experience is more powerful in the kind of fantasy post private property world that is presented in media.
