SiaCoin and the Soft Fork Dilemma

I created this meme which is currently the third post on the "Hot" tab on the SiaCoin subreddit. I feel VERY strongly about this issue and, yes, my skin is in the game.

In order to add value to the Steem blockchain, I will be writing a quick post before shifting gears to continue my efforts for @steemflagrewards, the project started with the support of Mr. @timcliff to fight blockchain abuse via a flag incentivization system. I am spread a bit thin these days, my friends, but am compelled to try to "hit all the bases" of matters for which I have a passion. This is one such matter.

If I could happen to get rid of that pesky day job, I would be extremely happy. I would love the opportunity to make a living from serving the blockchain community. Just saying. That is my drive. As many of you know, I operate off of principle and not mere profit.

Profit is great. Don't get me wrong but, if the method of obtaining profit conflicts with my ideals, well... I'm going to forego the profit. It's just my modus operandi.

To fork or not to fork? That is the question.

I have been busy, busy, busy on social media as an activist for a delayed soft fork. What is a summation of my rationale in supporting a soft fork?

• Prevent (or impede) Bitmain and affiliates from gaining enough hashing power to become a threat to the Sia network. This is the primary goal of the devs as I understand. Likewise it is my goal. Bitmain is one of the largest agents of centralization in the cryptospace. I am thrilled that the devs are considering the SF to throw a "monkey wrench" into the profit focused machine. I will not invest in a Antminer A3 as a matter of principle.

• Delayed soft fork will afford misguided or otherwise uninformed Antminer A3 buyers to make ROI and will allow Obelisk customer, typically loyal to Nebulous, their project, and their vision, to ROI as well. It's the best compromise I can think of in this unfortunate scenario.

I could spend much more time talking about this but I have to get back to development. Feel free to dop a comment to share your thoughts. I'll be happy to get back and discuss.

Operating off principle is the way to go. Its about the revolution, not just the monetary increase.

Yes, I am enamored by blockchain tech. The greedy people around it. Not so much.

There is so much avarice in this industry. Really starts making you thing of the T in TULIP, huh. Of course, I was once unregenerate so I must fight the impulse of my flesh to look at these people with disdain.

I can only imagine what kind of person I would be had it not been for Christ converting my soul. May He be praised.
