This 1888-P dollar is a bright coin with nice luster. My Morgan dollar is slabbed in a PCGS holder with a pedigree as coming from the "McClaren Collection." The McClaren Collection is a coin hoard that consists of 100,000 silver dollars. This hoard belonged to Gerald "Jerry" Forsythe, an auto racing magnate. The McClaren Collection gets its name from the Mercedes SLR Mclaren sports car. The majority of the hoard was marketed by GovMint. The higher quality coins were sold by Legend Numismatics. Personally, I believe slabbed coins with pedigree from "hoards" or "collections" are gimmicks. Nowadays, anybody can pay an extra fee to a grading service to create a custom pedigree for their slabs. The only pedigrees that are worth big money are those belonging to famous collectors such as Louis Eliasberg. Coins with pedigrees from minor hoards such as the McClaren Collection typically don't command premiums. The pedigree is nothing more than a marketing ploy. I bought this 1888-P dollar for only $50 at my LCS, which shows that most pedigrees don't affect values or premiums.
