I'm a huge fan of Egyptian mythology, which is why I bought this bar. The Anubis bar is produced by Monarch Precious Metals. Each bar has an antique finish. The obverse depicts Anubis with a coffin. Anubis is the god of embalming. The Egyptians believe Anubis taught people how to mummify corpses. To begin the mummification process, corpses were dried out with natron salt. The organs were then removed from the body and placed into Canopic Jars. The brain was removed by sticking a metal hook through corpse's nostrils. The reverse depicts the gods Thoth, Horus, and Anubis. In this scene the gods are judging deceased people for their sins. The gods judge people through the "Weighing of the Heart" trial. Anubis weighs a person's heart against a feather in a scale. The heart represents the sins the person had committed in life. The feather represents justice. If the heart outweighs the feather, that means the person was sinful and his heart will be eaten by monster called Ammut. If the feather outweighs the heart, then the person is righteous and will live on in heaven.
