Treasures Found In Junk Silver Bag

in #silver8 years ago

I received a second order of junk silver yesterday. My last order gave me some hope that I'd find some numismatics, and it did not disappoint!

In the last bag, I was over the moon about finding a few barber dimes and two barber quarters.

In this bag, there were a ton of barbers! And it didn't stop there...

Barber Dimes:

SEATED LIBERTIES! Holy crap!IMG_3151.JPG

Whoa! That's pretty damn impressive for "junk." I know condition is king with many coin collectors-- and these look pretty worn-- but still.

Congrats!

Exactly. They're worn, so probably not worth much more, but he's really fortunate to be getting more than just dimes.

Thanks! There are a few that should bring decent money still:
1891 Seated Quarter - Grades around F12, so it could bring $30+ online
1854O Seated Quarter - Grades G4, so $40 or so
1901 Barber Quarter - Grades VG8-F12, so $30+

You can't put them on auction and expect this kind of money. But, if you list them for a fixed price and have patience, then I think you can.

Wish I could get that stuff, here where I am.

I aslo write about gold and silver. my latest:

I'm not sure the word junk is the right one :)

Haha yeah, it's a stupid term, but it's what they call pre-1965 US Mint coins when buying them for the bullion.

Are you collecting these, flipping them for profit, or both?

I'm buying the silver as an investment. As for the few with decent numismatic value - I'll likely sell them just to get more ounces of silver.

Sounds like a solid approach, definitely interested in seeing the future shipments you receive!

I would be interested in helping you purchase more silver

You have been very lucky latley. Nice finds. Keep stacking my friend.

Thanks! As long as I keep buying from the same source, I'm hopeful that the luck will continue.

Nice man!! What a score!!!

Thanks!

Nice find. While I have found a few rare and expensive minerals, I've yet to find that million dollar stone you occasionally hear about in the news. :-)

Where have you found these minerals? What are your best finds?

Interesting. Do you just buy for scrap value? Where do you get such a thing?

Yep, I'm buying the silver as an investment because I think it will have huge returns over the next 5-10 years. Schiffgold.com, jmbullion.com, and providentmetals.com all accept Bitcoin for their products, including this "junk" silver.

biophil if you are still interested in investing let me know. I did a few articles on silver and investing.

Nice score... I have some junk silver myself, I'll have to look through it. What exactly is a 'barber'?

Most coins from the US mint that are dated between 1892 and 1916 are called Barbers.

Gotcha, thanks. One more question if you don't mind, what kind of premium can you get on a barber vs a later dated coin?

The difference is completely dependent on date/mintmark and condition. Let's say it's a relatively common date and it's very worn. In this case, you'll only get a small premium.

If it's rare or in great condition, you could get a premium in the hundreds of dollars for a single coin. A 1901S that's worn would still bring $1000s.

so much of it depends on condition it's best when gathering them to look at it in terms of silver value and then if you are considering selling look at each piece individualy for what the numisemeric value may be

Not too shabby.

Nice man! The seated liberty is the only junk coin I still haven't added to my stack! I'm a huge "junk fondler" and I always get excited when I see a barber or merc in my "average circ dime" buy. I can't imagine how you're feeling after that haul! Nice stuff! Continue to share please!

Thanks! I also got several hundred mercs in this lot, including a few 1916. I need a magnifying glass in order to see if there's a desirable mint mark on any of those.

I've never been all that into looking for key dates or errors or any of that stuff -I figure if I'm getting it in a bulk bag, they've already cherry-picked it. Have you had any luck finding key dates or fancy things in bulk bags? Mercs are hands down my favorite 90% silver

I've never really taken the time to look for a key dates in bulk bags either. But since there were barbers and seateds, I know this lot hasn't been searched. Consequently, I feel like I should take the time to pick through it.

Looks like fun. thank you for sharing

Even junk silver is a beautiful sight to behold!

I like it because it's like, it's known but it isn't that it has the extra value you know
almost like an inside joke that a lot of folk are in on but still not everyone

Nice, oYou won't be finding such in Digital Coins :)

Nice collection
Keep up the good work

Awesome finds man!! I hope to share some of my treasure with you as well! Goodluck hunting and Happy Steemin! ✌🏽

can I ask where you get the bags from
