RE: So, what is this "Artificial Intelligence" really ?!?

in #silverbloggers22 days ago

This was fascinating to read through, @mondoshawan. Thank you for the effort to put it together!? I say that a little tongue-in-cheek, as I am personally not very familiar with how much actual time and effort went into it, given most of the content was apparently generated by an AI process.

You clearly indicate where you are asking it a question, though, so I definitely can appreciate the logical thought process you followed, in generating the content we can all now read in this post.

Some highlight takeaways for me:

  • "The human brain is incredibly intricate—roughly 86 billion neurons, each connected by trillions of synapses, processing vast amounts of information in real-time."

  • The whole idea of even thinking about duplicating this marvelous organ of ours is clearly fundamental to your post. And therefore limited to what we THINK we know about it.

How close are we? If it were possible to ever say we finally truly know EVERYTHING about it someday, how close are we to that hypothetical point of perfection today?

  • "Even if true self-awareness might be a far-off goal, it’s important to note that AI can be made to simulate self-awareness convincingly."
  • "Another perspective is that, even if an AI doesn’t experience self-awareness the way we do, it might be so sophisticated that it convincingly simulates it."

The door now opened for enormously powerful deception, delusion, and manipulation can best be described in what way? Especially when combined with the relentless advances being made with virtual reality technology and its ability to provide input to our senses? Even starting to answer these questions should raise very sobering "reality check" thoughts, for anyone being truly honest.

  • "Or is there something uniquely human about our experience of the world that we can't replicate, no matter how much technology advances?"

  • Perhaps the ultimate question, as we experience all that is unfolding before us, at a fast and accelerating pace. It is inescapable that to even begin to answer it, we cross clear boundaries separating what we know from what we believe.

Summing this all up is beyond me, excepting one additional thought tied to your post. What I do not see touched on is the enormous power requirements of even attempting to advance this technology into the future. For starters, current projections I have read contain references to the need to double our current energy output. Oh joy. If true, even starting down that road, what will that require of us all?

With this comment now written, I will follow it up with two other actions. Reblog the first post on my account and follow yours. I am interested in what you have to say, tied to this one, as indicated in your post's opening. If comfortable doing so, please feel free to provide me a link or notification in it.

    • Yes, I have learned linking other accounts in your posts is a delicate topic. So, I am giving you permission in advance, if you deem it to be in your best interest.

Thank you for the effort to put it together

Hm, this part probably not too much, since as you guessed right, because it's more the bot who did the work here. Still it is a part of a post about all that AI situations all over here and elsewhere, which is in progress for already days and days. And the text was already soooo long, i decided to put that part seperate.

... even starting down that road, what will that require of us all?

Right, the whole output of the bot made me aware that we have some time left until we talk to HAL and his family... And also made me shake my head on the "fact" that many researchers "humans" are actually interested and already on that for good. Ha !

Thanks a lot for your interest and taking the time to write an intelligent proactive comment. When the AI article will be sent out, i'll let you know it. I just don't know yet when that will be, since i'm terrible in being online here regularly.

Until then.... "Hoka Hey" !

I appreciate this, @mondoshawan:

Whenever you get to it will be just fine. 🤝 I'll look forward to reading it, once you are ready. 🫡
