It's been way too long between doses. With the events of the world this year playing havoc everywhere, the Perth Mint had halted production of many of its coins and bars, and the 10oz Silver Kookaburra I have been saving for was one of those casualties. That, and the price of silver just kept on going up and up and up.... and up! I should have bought it in November last year, when they had it, and I didn't have the money.
So, I gave up on that idea, for now, and resolved to buy the next limited release 1oz silver bullion coin which looks half decent, and last week it happened!
An email arrived in my inbox telling me about the Mint's latest bullion coin, a 30000 coin limited release, paying tribute to Perth's very own cute and cuddly, friendly little Quokka...
...which has become a global sensation since Thor mentioned it on Ellen, and old man Roger F posted his quokka selfie.
Anyway... the Perth Mint released a 1oz Silver Bullion Quokka, and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have an excuse to buy more silver, and if this coin sells like the previous releases, they be sold out pretty soon...ARRR!! So...I got it!

Now, the Quokka really is a cute and cuddly animal, which will bute you if you're getting in its face too much. They're also very social animals and hang around in groups, so... I couldn't get just one... I had to buy a family. ARRR!!!
I'm glad I did, and even though these coins are selling at more than a 20% premium on the bullion price from the Mint, I don't see them losing value on the collectors market, even if the bullion price comes down, especially if the Perth Mint sells out of them quickly.
I do fear that this purchase may have just woken the stackitus beast within, ARRR!!! and I'll be back buying more coin again soon, and getting in trouble with the Mrs... again🤣🤪

It is quite handy to be so close to the Mint, but I don't get there much, I even had these ones delivered... too dangerous to the pocket to go there in person!
Haha. I hear you. When I do finally get there I will have the same rule as when I go to a casino.
Don't take any credit cards and only carry cash in your pocket that you've already budgeted to spend. I imagine I'll be like a kid in a candy store and will need some restraint.

The Perth Mint puts out some real quality artwork on their coins. This one's a real good one too... you should try to get one if you can.
Ahhhh! I ordered one of these too, but being in the US I am sure it is gonna take FOREVER before I get one in my clutches. Smart of you to get a whole family.
