Every now and then I like to dig into my HiveSQL access and have a look to see how the SGS community is going from the 30,000 foot view. Having worked in the corporate world for more years than I care for, I do recognize that KPIs of sorts CAN be useful, but they can also be complete garbage as the subtleties of the coal-face day-to-day activities can be lost. That said, anything that CAN be useful is something that I at least want to have a look at. So here is what I’m looking at.
This chart is the post count for the #SilverGoldStackers tag that I have been curating. It goes back to the start of 2021 – just over 2 years. It’s a good period to look at because 2021 was a solid bull market for HIVE (and crypto broadly) but 2022 and beyond have been bearish. I’ve labelled the 2 peaks in the HIVE price because we typically do see a peak in activity around the same time and there is no difference here. What IS interesting is the big peaks AFTER the bull market was over. Even in the midst of a pretty savage bear market we are making new highs for activity on the tag. This is encouraging.

Just to put it in context, above is the HIVE chart over the same period. It’s been pretty tough going for HIVE HODLers (like me) over 2022 and so far in 2023. I think that makes the uptick in tag activity even more significant.
Following on from the Post Count chart, I wanted to have a look at Comments on those posts too. This can be a good indication of how good our engagement is and whether we might be reaching more people with our Posts about Precious Metals. Here the news is even better. We have gone on a bit of a tear in 2022 with strong growth in comments. Admittedly, some of these comments will be from bots or comment farmers but these are not really new phenomena for the HIVE platform so I think the uptrend for our post engagement is clear and legitimate.
Finally, on a more somber note I looked at the Curation rewards for the community curation project and it’s not so encouraging. It seems to have wobbled around during the bull market and then been mostly steady since. Recently it’s taken a bit of a dip as we did lose some power recently. There is nothing really to get excited about here and I would suggest that we may need to focus on trying to get some more sponsors and contributors from amongst our new posters so that our community curation project doesn’t go into decline.
Let me know what you think. Do you see something else in the data that I've missed?
It's great seeing some new fresh faces lately. Encouragement needed, yes.
Agreed. The new influx of posters and new member nominations is definitely good. We kind of need some of the older members to rally around them and show them the SGS "way". This community has always had a really good (and generous) culture that we need to bring the newbies into.
Yeah, I don't spend enough time anywhere but Threads and dCity these days and it's sad. I wish I had more Hive time in my life but alas, things change. Keep up the good work with the charts and the lines and graphs and things ya !PIMP
♥️
You must be killin' it out here!
@summertooth just slapped you with 5.000 PIMP, @buggedout.
You earned 5.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 2/2 possible people today.
Read about some PIMP Shit or Look for the PIMP District
I think you’ve covered all the data already. Anyway, I just wanting to know, can I use the tag #SilverGoldStackers tag when writing random post? Or this is just allowed to use for financial blogs? Please let me know, thanks!
The #SilverGoldStackers tag is intended for content that is related to Precious Metals and/or the stacker community here. We also have the #SGSLife tag for general community posts about random things.
We do try to keep the main tag focused so that enthusiasts can find all the metals content in one place and don't have to sift through random stuff so we do ask that people respect that.
I want to respect that too and that's why I'm asking 🙂 I'll use tag #SGSlife to reach you sir. Thank you so much!!!
#sgslife is for posts of nominated and approved community members to share their non precious metals posts. As a non member using this tag would be odd…
Ohh ok then! @dfinney
Is there some other way to reach you sir @buggedout?
You can reply to my comments or find me on discord.
thank you so much once again sir @buggedout
what should I do if I want you to curate my post?
Your discord ID please? My ID is BaBy FaiRy#8920
Sometimes I notice the SGS community when a user I follow posts about his stack.
Does it have a "Community" or is it just a tag?
If there is a Community... when I join the Community, does that mean I'm a member? Or is there another process to become a member of SGS?
There is a Community feature on HIVE which you can find HERE although we do have more of a focus on just posting using the #SilverGoldStackers tag as it's a little more accessible and inclusive for non-members.
We also have a Discord channel where a lot of us gather who don't use HIVE, you can find that HERE
As for joining formally, there is a process is detailed HERE but you don't have to be a member to post about precious metals to the #SilverGoldStackers tag. Indeed, doing that is the best way to get started and get nominated for membership.
Looks like the #SGS community gained more traction lately and I believe that with its presence signaled on Threads, that should push it much higher. It is simply important for a community to find new channels of bringing awareness and traffic to its content, so I think it is on the right path in this regard.
Yes, there has been a bit of buzz generated about threads in the SGS discord lately and it's something I need to check out properly.
I agree, @buggedout !
That's great. Maybe you can help me promote our curation project to the newer content creators?
Yes, of course!
Thank you for having the smarts to track all of this! The curation part of our community would have died more than once without you. Please except this emoji trophy 🏆 of gratitude. 😍
Thanks @dfinney I will humbly accept your emoji trophy.
There have been some new faces around which is nice. Is it the delegation pulls hurting the curation?
Yes, mainly it is the loss of delegators. But also the lack of quality content to upvote. The better the content is the more curation rewards it will generate.
I’m working on building my HP up, I’ll be able to delegate a grand shortly if you want it.
I'm very pleased to see the recent increased Activity for #silvergoldstackers tag. Hopefully it will increase more with the passage of time. Can't wait to se the activity when the bull run comes.
Actually I'm seeking for more knowledge and information about hive, tags that we are allowed to use, market and a lots of thing and you shared a lot of info that helpful to me and others. Will wait for your next update, have a nice day.
When it is bull time, the activity increases. At the time of bear , it decreases. It is in genersl for whole Hive, not just for one community.
Curation rewards are important for the community as they make community stronger
Some interesting charts and numbers. 😉🤜 it's encouraging to see HIVE move, often independently, NOT just following votes or comments, etc.
I've been working on it for a couple of months now and the people in the community here are so nice and supportive and when it comes to bear and bulls. This is the case with all of us who work on cryptos should have read about their cycle first but researched later. The way we see it, there are many people working on the silvergoldstackers. All of us should work hard day and night and wait for the bull market. I am also just new 2 months working send to me HP will be more I will also delete SSG community.
You received an upvote of 100% from Precious the Silver Mermaid!
Thank you for contributing more great content to the #SilverGoldStackers tag.
You have created a Precious Gem!
I'm currently accepting Temporary Delegations, in order to give Bigger Up-Votes...
Can you please tell me when the bull market on hive will be back again? I'm waiting desperately. Thanks in advance! 💖❤️💗
I wish I knew. I do think that we are closer to the bottom than to the top so I am powering up when I can and if I had spare cash I'd be looking accumulating more at this level. I am not super optimistic about seeing another bull market until maybe 2024-25 though.
