This coin is so shiny it's hard to take a picture of it. Coins like this have been posted about many times, but today, this was the silver that went in my pocket.
It's a 1979 50% silver dollar. It's one of the best Canadian Dollar designs. Not my absolute favorite, but I always snag them when I find them.
The nice thing about the Canadian dollars is I get them very close to, or beneath melt value, because the assay companies charge more for refining them, than say sterling silver or fine silver.
Happy Saturday friends!

Nice coin, it definitely has a ship on there. I love ship coins! And that has the first ship on the great lakes, awesome!

At close to melt value, any circulated silver coin would be a bargain!😇
Careful with holes in your pocket, my friend ….. this Coin is awesome!👍😊
Honestly, these 50% silvers locally are usually under melt, Because of the assay refining costs.
So much more expensive at my Local coin shop……🙄
Just looking at this at melt value only, not collectible value…….
You would probably pay 5 to 6 dollars over silver spot!😮
The only plus is Silver bars, rounds, and coins are 100 % tax free🤗
Any coin with ships is a good one in my opinion.
I have to admit this coin is hard to photograph.
It's hard to show the sail details.
I like the young ElizabethII on that coin!
