The image on the coin can be interpreted in several ways. The one least favourable to Britain: The slightly out of focus lion in the background signifies the passing, fading past and the eagle in the foreground is the future. I don't think I'll buy that coin.

True. To me the lion is more stylized than real looking, like a statue. It's a real eagle chilling on a lion statue. Oh, and the lion has a hand instead of a paw.
