I just successfully sign up in steemit but has no idea what to post. So.... I should start with my hobby - singing.
Disclaimer: I am not an expert at all. I just hope to share some of my experience and at the same time learn from all of you.
To me, breath support should be practiced at the beginning. It could shift your attention and focus downwards and help release the stress in your throat. It is a great way to correct the bad habit which is adding muscular stress when singing high.
Steps to achieve such skill:
- Breath into the abdomen and expand the lower back ribs
- Breath out and maintain the expansion of the lower back ribs, which is your support
- Keep the expansion of the lower back ribs, breath in again and make a sound
Imagine the tension on the back is the stress you used to use in your throat. Now you are shifting the stress downwards and try to forget the existence of the throat. The higher you sing, more you expand the back.
However, in the beginning, you may probably encounter some problems. When you try to expand the back, the abdomen will also become hard like when people show their six packs. It will hinder the breath required for singing. So it requires constant practices to separate the control of the front and the back. If you are doing right, the abdomen should be soft and keep going inwards as a sign of smooth breathing process.
A tips that might help is to run a while ( or any aerobic exercise) before practice. Panting is the most natural way of breath support and your body would teach how the real breath support is.
That's some of my experience on singing. If you think it is bullshit, tell me your opinions and give me a chance to improve. Thank you.
