SketchCrazed – An imaginary subterranean world… I think

An ink drawing inspired by the album title Thing-Fish, by Frank Zappa

My original ink drawing, titled Thing-Fish-Thing

I wish I could tell you what inspired the actual imagery in this piece, but I am probably as confused as you are. There is of course a fish in it, but beyond that it doesn’t seem to be in any specific environment. The drawing does explore line (connecting the dots) as well as solid shapes and elements of language and communications. And maybe a bit of machinery. Who can know these things? I am just the artist. The hand with pen does what it does, but the imagery comes from somewhere else.

Adding some color

I may create an acrylic painting of this one day. But for now I have simply added color to areas to give it a bit more visual interest.

So many drawings

There are so many drawings I have done, like this Thing-Fish-Thing, that might influence future paintings. It is a fun exercise to revisit various sketchbooks to see what I may want to develop further at some point in time.
