Skills training in Africa: brick by brick

in #skillstraining2 years ago

The first phase of helping the remote rural community of Chicumbane, Mozambique realise their dream of having an adult skills training centre was finding someone that could help them raise awareness and funding while also helping them provide a place that public benefit organisations could operate through in order to help extend their reach into remote rural areas with little infrastructure. We accepted the challenge, MESHOA was created for this purpose and we're almost ready to start with phase 2, producing the bricks and building.

With so many unemployed and unskilled adults within the community, the volunteer students for a construction course are willing and able to receive practical training in order to learn a skill while building the centre in order to help the community have access to other courses that will be offered to the once they have classes to learn in.

We will provide the manual brick press and as much cement as we can afford to start with in 2023. More raw materials will be needed as we go along and the community requests the raw materials with which they can achieve their goal.

For our first campaign, we are sourcing cement distributors in Mozambique and arranging with distributors for delivery of the bags that our supporters will be able to sponsor for the community project.

The sponsor of each bag can have their name etched onto a brick that will be built into a wall for all to see who helped the community make their dream a reality.

We are also working on a limited edition NFT collection as an extra thank you to our sponsors who will each receive a free NFT as an invite to our online community where they can keep up to date with all our plans and progress in trying to make a difference together, where it matters.

Feel free to follow me if you're not already and you would like to know when I post more news and thank you for the support.

Dear @virimen, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a bit more support to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
