Dry Brush Your Way to Brighter Healthier Skin

Bright radiant skin is one of the top requests I get from my clients. They are always shocked when I recommend adding this simple step into their skincare routine. I started dry brushing back in high school when my exercise teacher recommended it. It changed my skin. Helping with not just the dullness but my breakouts and product effectiveness.

I start every morning before my shower on dry skin with this body brush. Starting from my feet in small strokes brush up your legs to your groin where you have a bundle of lymph nodes. I like to think of them as the dumpster. Brush all the toxins and waste up to the dumpster. Then move on to the hands and do the same thing towards the nodes in the armpit. Then I work my stomach brushing up towards my heart. On my chest, I brush out towards the armpits. I do the same on my back going towards the heart and out to the armpits. It takes about 5 minutes. Small, soft strokes are all you need. The lymph system is close to the skin and sensitive so if you press too hard you won't stimulate it.

A few years ago I started doing my face when Aveda came out with this brush. I like to use their facial massage routine. You can find a video how-to on their YouTube page. It is a great way to start the day, wake up the skin, stimulate cell turnover and gently exfoliate. I don't always follow with an oil cleanser but I do the facial massage with whatever cleanser I choose in the morning.
