During childhood, our mums would make us have afternoon naps and at night go to bed early.
It was not a punishment, our mums knew what they were actually doing.
And as we would sometimes get mad because we were missing a cartoon or anime, now that we are grown, we instill the same to our own babies or our young nieces and nephews.
How can something be bad and yet we still practice it on our future generations?
There must be some good to it.
Now this is when we are babies.
As we grow older, unlike brushing our teeth which we keep on doing till we are grannies, we reduce our sleep year in, year out.
We need that good night sleep as much as the next guy.
We need it even more, because of the workload we put on ourselves, both mentally and physically.
We may believe that depriving ourselves of sleep and working more is the key to success.
But as long as you are breathing and living, a good rest is the fuel to help you perform or else you will wear out.
Take a good sleep, rise up, meditate, take a shower and have some quiet breakfast time. Easy steps but very effective after a good night sleep.
As Dr. Breus says, " Everything you do, you'll do better with a good night's sleep"
