Female warrior (step by step).

Hi everybody!

Really sorry, I have been busy these last weeks and I could not post more of mi step by step work. The news is I already have another piece of step by step that I hope you enjoy it. I need to admid this illustration was heavy to finish, I have done work more complex than it before but this new one was stressfull, I do not know what happend. But one thing that I learned these years of improving in art is keep drawing no matter how horrible had turned out drawings. keep working and you will see how you become a better artist.

1- Here is the sketch drawing. Is not neccesary a lot of detail. The people generally thing that an artista has in mind every single perspective of a shape, and it is not true, sometimes you need a reference, juast a picture or a real person to understand better how the body looks. For this sketch I used a internet reference of a hand and how the hand hold a sword. As an artist dont afraid to have picture reference.

1.png

Reference_ilustration.png

2- After that I cleaned the sketch and modify some áreas. In this case I modified the legs of main character.

2.png

3- Flat color step. Generally I make one sketch layer and below that I add a one separate layer for each color.

3.png

4- Basic shadow for the skin

4.png

5- Blending color on skin

5.png

6- In this step I am learning and exploring adding gradient color into sketch layer as a way to have an idea about color harmony. I selected a gradient color between blue and red. Looking my path I think now it was not good color choice because the next steps were really complicate when I was triying to blend colors. It is a digital experiment.

6.png

7- I redefine face details and color hair. You know, I really like bright color on hair.

7.png

8- I added some spot colors and shadows to background it is just a reference for landscape.

8.png

9- Here I was working more face details and blend tones. I also decided to add a yellow on hair.

9.png

10- I added some light on hair and emulate depth with shadows. The hair for my is something really important, it helps to make a great art. At this point I realize that something I did not like so far, I see that color skin was flat, I mean in one only tone and its looks too orange.

10.png

11- So I decided to modify the tones on skin adding purple-gray color. Also I changed the light color on skin to blue. It was a huge change, but is was neccesary, personally I was not happy about how it was turned out. Also with Hue/Saturation mode I changed the background tone.

11.png

12- More blending work, trying to combine all the tones of the character. Also I defined better the shape of sword handled (it looks great dont you think?).

12.png

13- Finally, I added background details. I imagine some source of light at the left of main character, maybe a huge Wood fire but we did not see it, only the dust particles can indicate us that something is burning. Also I decided to add grass and some leaves to contextualized where is the character.

Here is my favorite part of a post, I mean the gif animation that shows step by step process. Is something magical waching how it is building.

proceso_chica_con_espada.gif

Also, a picture of myself and my old mac book pro 2006 that is Works as a new! It will not stop to surprising me.

The artwork is complete. Maybe I can dedícate more time rendering the image, but I would prefer to make another experiment. I hope you had enjoyed this step by step work. Do you like this artwork? You are incredible friend every detail of the skin tone and structure of her body was really incredible. You have a great talent. I fell in love with the work of a woman warrior. I love it is tender and charming with a radiant hair color and legs. It was a pleasure to enjoy your work of art. A big greeting. Many successes.

Thank you so much for your feedback @yeninsfer this serie of drawing is a way to kepp growthwing as an artist! I really appreciate feedback like yours, it is really inspiring. Well I have open commissions if some day you would like a digital portrait. You know that is not only a hoby, it is also the way to survive here in Venezuela, well you live here too, isn't it? you understand the environment. The best wish for you! Thank you again.

Hi abrahmatan, the steemit community is filled with talented people and you are among the best of them. I must confess, i was expecting something different when i saw the title, female warrior but i love what i am seeing. Looks can be decieving, she looks like an everyday sensual female( i love the hair) who has toughness hidden inside. She can be lethal when crossed. The choice of blade was perfect . Your choice of colours was on point also. Above all, you did a good job and i hope to see more of this.

Uao!! Thank you for your inspiring words. It is a huge supporting. I did not know which tittle to give to my post at the first time, I thought that warrior girl was rigth, but for sure she is not a traditional warrior :). Sure! I keep posting and showing my step by step work! Have a wonderful day!

I love the fact that you tried adding gradient color into sketch layer as a way to have an idea about color harmony, it's very experimental and daring as well and well it may not have turned out too amazing, but it's awesome and out if the blue, it's astounding too the way you combined all the processes into a GIF this is total hardwork I tell you. Amazing one here, the Katana sword is amazing.

Thank you my friend for your feedback! Yes it is an experimental digital art. I am searching the best way to create a wonderful illustration, but sometimes the process is just trying and failure and keep trying again. Yes this kind of post carry a lot of time to organize and show all the process work, but it worth when you read all positive feedback like yours (I really appreciate it). Have a wonderful day!

Very cool post! Scrolling down and watching the various steps of this drawing come to life is awesome and you explaining all the detail behind it makes me appreciate the effort put in! Mad respect man

Thank you so much my friend! Yes its takes a lot of time organize the post, but the result is great. I started show my step by step here on steemit and after I understand how valuable is the process of an art. Again Thank you.

A different kind of warrior; the modern day warrior, I so love this twist. I love her hair, the different shades of color in hair is just amazing. She doesn't just look beautiful but strong as well. Love how you blended her skin tone too.

Love it from the sketch to the final result, you are talented!

Thank you so much! this kind of feedback push me to keep drawing and making digital art. You are going to see more from me.

That's just great! You should keep up with such awesomeness!

Hey @abrahmatan, I love her hair, the highlights!! She is such a hypp looking female warrior, holding the sword. Thank you for showing us the process, I enjoyed it for sure :) You are a happy creator :)

Hi my friend. Thanks to take time to write me :). Have it for sure that I am going to post more of my artwork step by step.

You created a great post with very detailed step by step process. Good job on the final picture, I like the starry background that you set her up with.

Congratulations for your curie vote :D.

Thank my friend! I appreciate your feedback. As well I like too the starry background, it gives a special effect to the whole illustration.

Beautiful work! Great photos of the drawing process!

Thank you! ;)

Beautiful work, no doubt my favorite part of the illustration was the hair, all those colors that you put on are spectacular, to get the volume on the body of the warrior gave it a phenomenal touch .. And you hit the nail with the colors you used in general .. A great job .. A hug @abrahmatan

Thanks @naideth I really appreciate your comment. this artwork takes to me a lot time and effort to finish it but at the end it worths each second of work. Un fuerte abrazo para ti tambien! :)

Sigamos dibujando! Un abrazo! :)

Congratulations on the experiment. The hours you works on this paid off well. I like your line art. I never got past the line art and blocking with my current digital skills so it amazes me that some people out there have got it easily done. No doubt that in 6 months time, with this regular pacing, you're going to reach semi realistic levels.

well, it is not easy. I need to confess that I feel afraid when I start the process of lineal draw to blend flat color and makes it more realistic with lights and shadows. I mean is normal that we feel not sure when we are drawing but the best things we can do is still trying and trying to blend colors and find the best way to render well done. Remember the phrase "practice makes perfect". So keep drawing and overcome this first fear, you will see the result. Thanks for your feedback! :)

I think you did a great job with the drawing. It can't be easy to get the character profile right and make the body shape so realistic.

The step by step makes it really easy for us to follow how you got to that point. It's nice to follow the process from start to finish especially for those of us without any artistic abilities.

Yes, it is not easy work. I am working to improve my drawing skill making realistic rendering. This is not my best work but I am going to keep working to growth. and well, is very interesting see the whole process of illustration, I think people can value better a drawing when they see how is turned out. Thank for your feedback @niallon

Thank you for sharing with us your step by step art work. I especially like the step by step animation. It show your artwork process very well. I glad to know your art work, you are a talented artist. You have a very good technique and how you complete your work. The characters you drawn was just awesome I love the colors you choose. The stress and long time you took to paint this pay off!!

your welcome @oliviackl I am really glad that you like it. Also I am so suprized that many people write me to congratulate me. It is really inspiring for me to keep working on more post like this. I have posted in instagram but I never receive feedback like here in steemit. I really apprecciate the feedback like yours. Thank you.

your work was really amazing, this is why people appreciate your work. Not everyone attached to Instagram, this was the reason why your work didn't noticed. But there are a lot of artists and art lovers in steemit. We all appreciate each other project. I am glad that you are inspired and motivate to produce more. Keep it up.

@abranhmatan If you did a great art step by step the gradient is too beautiful and I see that you take much into account the hair is like the main thing, the color of the catana or sword was super original that great art you have shared. the word art is not known by everyone, it is nice to see when it starts in art and you are disappointed at first by not knowing much but here is the result a great ART things are made little by little love and faith @neymarth

Hello this is very well done i love the colors of the hair and the background and that you draw a girl with lovely shape:)

Thank you! :) I keep working on more post like this!

image🎉 Congratulations @abrahmatan! 👏, your amazing Artwork has been selected to be featured in my curation post.

This is a really cool illustration @abrahmatan! 👏👏👏 🎨

Uao!!! thank you @melooo182 I really apprecciate your suport :) I am glad you take me into account

You have great imagination there to make the drawing with more modern style and outfit rather than a traditional one.

How long did it take you to finish this? May I know what software are you using?

Thanks for your feedback :). I think it takes to me almost 5 hours (I am not sure because I made it in my spare time), to my next work I am going to take the exactly time. Well it have been done with Adobe Photoshop and a wacom bamboo.

Wacom bamboo?

Yes a wacom bamboo fun. It is a base wacom product but it still a great and strong tool for illustrator and designer. I have a wacom intous too but i feel more confortable with bamboo.

Oh well, I haven't heard about wacom (much so bamboo?) in drawing yet so I was wondering. I thought it was a native musical instrument. Oh my... 😂 I searched Google and now I have the idea. Anything special with it that you prefer using such? Does it have more features or something?

Jajajajaaja! I understand you. Well, "wacom" is the brand of a serie of digital tablet for illustrators. "wacom bamboo" is one of them and "wacom intous" is another one with professional features. I prefer bamboo because is smaller and the options are similar of wacom intous (that is bigger). Exist another model called "wacom cintq" that is a digital tablet too but you can draw directly to a screen and emulate the sensation of draw in paper (it is my next tablet goal to have, but it is really expensive). Do you like draw?

Now wacom sounds cool. I like to draw but drawing doesn't like me, like singing. Well, I guess most forms of art. That is why I am amazed by people who can do these great stuff. With wacom, assuming I can afford it, maybe I can have a chance with drawing. 😊

Wow! This is stunning! I'm not an artist by no means but I understand what you mean by saying that you only need a reference. If you have just an idea and you are creative you will make a great piece of art!

Congratulations on the curie vote!

Thank you my friend! well I have in my mind somes reference but some times I need a photogragh to understand how to draw a particual perspective of something (for example the hands that are really complicated to draw.) but you need to draw a lot and makes character studies drawing with reference first. After this studies you are going to be able to draw without reference, only with imagination.
