I did it….

Afternoon everyone….

Being a coin collector at heart, I’ve had many mixed feelings about buying any round that depicts and design of a real United States coin.

Pretty much nearly every historical coin ever produced by the United States Mint has be replicated as a silver round. The $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin, the Morgan silver dollar, the Peace dollar, the standing Liberty quarter, the list is pretty much endless.

But there is one coin that has been done by the United States Mint, that I finally broke down and bought.

It’s the incused Indian head coin. I bought this from the Golden State Mint. They did an absolutely fantastic job on this round. It looks nearly identical to the original gold coin.

Here’s a little information on the original Indian head coin:

The Indian Head gold piecesor Pratt-Bigelow gold coinswere two separate coin series, identical in design, struck by the United States Mint: a two-and-a-half-dollar piece, or quarter eagle, and a five-dollar coin, or half eagle. The quarter eagle was struck from 1908 to 1915 and from 1925–1929. The half eagle was struck from 1908 to 1916, and in 1929. The pieces remain the only US circulating coins with incused (recessed) designs.

It’s one of my favorite designs of all US coinage.

Here is the round….

It is a wonderful design, as you say they did an excellent job, the expression on the Indian's face, the stars, the relief shape, a wonderful coin.
I wish you a happy day

Look how arrogant they are... putting a picture of a American Indian on the FRONT of the coin. And then stamping the word Liberty right next to it.
