In this post I look closer at the ability of 1UP to empower a community and open the doors for individual extra features like connecting the upvoting process with a bot of their own like SmartCash's @smartbot.
The 1UP system makes it easy to create a community by simply using tags and userlists. Each new community offers its own trailing system which users can follow with a part of their daily voting power for increased curation rewards as 1UP optimizes that process.
At the moment you have communities like @tribesteemup giving big upvotes to their members and initiating a trail to automatically follow that upvote as well. This is a popular mechanism handled by platforms like the free open source SteemAuto service. The problem with that approach is that the curation rewards for all followers are diminished because the of the earlier big upvote.
1UP turns that around and puts the biggest upvote at the end of the trail making everyone to profit from the big upvote. If they are a level one community or higher they even get a one daily 1UP vote at the end as well making it even more profitable.
SmartCash on 1UP
Communities like @smartcash can quickly find posts from their members and vote on the best with the new 1UP-vote that is equal for everyone. Once or ten times a day the 1UP community trail will upvote the highest post in the ranking. Both the authors as well as the entire community will earn bounties for the upcoming 1UP Smart Media Token when they create new content and vote for other posts.
Usually other cryptos are not invested in Steem and their communities work with incentives from their own ecosystems. SmartCash is using the @smartbot to give tips and let users send those funds to their wallets. It is possible to combine the SmartBot with the 1UP community for SmartCash and send the bot automatically to posts that are triggering the community trail and tip them a set amount of SmartCash.
1UP functions as a proof-of-hivemind system and could therefor be entrusted with that difficult task as an automated system. Community moderators could observe the content in order to identify any abuse and blacklist them. It would put a quality effort pressure on all SmartCash content creators which could be rewarded with higher than usual tips.
This is one many examples how a crypto community can use the 1UP voting system to reward the best content of their own members posting on the Steem blockchain about their project. Rewarding their users in their own cryptocurrency can be possible with special bots like the @smartbot.
