WHAT ARE ELECTRUM WALLET?

Electrum Wallets are light desktop wallet and does not require you to have full blockchain downloaded before accessing your funds. Why do I like this feature? well they are lots of advantages using the electrum wallets and apart from its easy access to funds, The Electrum wallet would be a nice addition and easy progression to desktop wallets for newbies. There is also the added benefit of it using less resources on your computer.

To use the wallet you would have to download it from the smartcash github website

provided by the development team. Electrum wallet uses the concept of seeds. These are a string of words which you should save offline.They serve as your backup to retrieve your wallet and funds,So do what ever you have to do to keep them save, If they get lost your funds gets lost forever, write down the seed properly and you can use some tools that keeps seeds safe for this process. You may want to consider one of these

Cryptokeystack This is pretty much a stainless steel plate that allows you write down your seeds on a metal plate. Price starts at $45.00

Cryptosteel Great product one I have used previously. I must say it took a while for me to open the pack and actually use it. Durable but not the easiest option I have seen. Price starts from $99.00

ColdTi I recently stumbled on to this product and quite like the idea of backing up numbers that represnt the words of your seed. It adds an extra layer of security and also an extra point of human failure. Price starts from $29.99 and available on Amazon.

BlockPlate Another interesting solution I found if you like puzzles and miss the days of punch cards!

Tjernlund CC3P Strong HODL Cryptocurrency Indestructible Cold Storage find this very interesting as not only is it a metal plate but it is split 3 ways so you can save your seeds in parts. Another level of security. Prices start from $49.99 on Amazon.

Download the Relevant SmartCash Electrum version for your Operating System

Now that you are done backing up your seeds!!!! I think its time we proceed in setting up the electrum wallet.
Select Standard Wallet to create a new wallet.Use the Import SmartCash address or private keys option to bring in your existing smartcash wallet into the electrum wallet. Click on Next to continue.

Once you click Next you all be shown this screen, you will be presented with your Seeds, take time to back it up like what we earlier started on this post, use your preferred back up options.Click on Next to continue

You will be asked to type in your seed here.Note that this process is to check if you have really back up your seeds and not playing too smart and stupid same time, cause once shown your set ups are complete, one might forget to back it up and a risk to one's funds - so once the seed confirmation shows up, you have to input the words manually, You will not be able to copy and paste in the box The system will present words for you to choose from as you start to type in your seed.

Select each word in the right order. The Next button will only become available when you have entered your seed in the right order, if the Next button did not show up then something is wrong but if yes, Lets move on .Click on Next to proceed

Lets get our funds in a more conducive and a secure environment,
Enter a password to secure your wallet. You would need this to login to your wallet. Confirm your password and click on Next to continue.
